Going into this race it was going to be yet another notch in my dental drama diaries as like with Bonnet Springs I had a filling appointment set for bib pick up day however a few days before I got a call saying that the office was no longer doing Friday appointments so I was going into things with pretty good health. Now if the weather could hold so I wasn’t doing a shortened race like last year all the better.

The day before (expo day) I had did a run later in the day to try to acclimate myself to what could have been weather wise and I was pleasantly surprised that the 88 feels like 89 on race evening was much more pleasant than the 93 feels like 94 on Friday afternoon.

Anyway my OOTD was my purple Livi skort, Yellow Tec Gear tank, and my crowned starlake accessories.

We parked at the AMTRACK Lot around 6PM and I nursed a gatorade and just vibed in the AC before walking over to the train station bathroom at 6:20 ish. I Don’t know if I was supposed to be using it but there were two gentleman waiting for the mens room in event shirts and bibs so I didn’t feel too bad.

Shortly after this I got myself set up with a frozen cooling cloth in my pocket, a small frozen water on my belt bag and a larger frozen water in hand. 

I was in wave 7 of 10.

I crossed the start mat at 7:01 as I was heading down Iowa Ave to Lake Morton the first runners were heading up it at around 7:14.

Four minutes later at 7:18 I hit mile marker one…17 mins elapsed.

Once I arrived at the Success Out and Back there was a band which was a new feature this year which was fun because LIVE ENTERTAINMENT IS IMPORTANT (there was also a live violinist playing the national anthem) just one of the new additions this season (alongside the new coral/start/finish flags and that annoying ‘Lets Run a 5K’ song they play at the start.

While I hit Success I thanked residents for going against the water restrictions any running their hoses and misters.

It was in this leg that I hit one of two great music hits when there were a few young kids holding out their hands for some high five power ups just as the chorus of Opelite was playing and it was a cute vibe.

On this stretch there was the water stop, turn around and ‘second’ stop.

7:37 I hit mile two (19 mins….36 mins elapsed)

Passing the band again I was back on the lake (end of line was just turning up success just before I was exiting) and eventually I was heading up Iowa and reaching marker three at 7:55….(18 mins …54 elapsed) with an official finish time of 56:44 Still a ways to go from my pre-pandemic PR but I felt as if I finished strong. I feel the second great music queue was whatever needle drop I finished with but I didn’t mark it and all I remember was “Our Doors Are Open” From Black Friday was just wrapping up as I was in the shoot and while I love that song/musical I don’t think it was that.

Springtime To Seaworld

While a good amount of the RunDisney social accounts that come across my FYP have opted to do Springtime to Dollywood (complete with costume changes between same day 5K + 10Ks) I’ve kept it local (ish) by doing my second annual Springtime to Sea World Challenge. Like with last year I started out with the Springtime 5K and 10K followed by the Seven Seas Food Fest 5K the following weekend… unlike last year there wasn’t a THIRD race the weekend prior to Disney as Bonnet Springs as you way was a few weeks earlier. Starting with Disney This year I was flying solo and since my sister was a bit out of the geo locked range for shopping VQs since she was just getting off a cruise in South Florida it was up to me. I managed to leave super early getting into shop group 62 right at 8:30. Since I knew that I’d be called closer to noon and we were already halfway there I opted to rope drop Springs and Gideons…. Summer Running Round Up 2025

I had all intents and purposes to make my Red White and Brew recap separate from my summer series run down but days went by then weeks and then I decided to just lump everything together so let’s get that one out of the way first. This year's event once more started and ended at a local brewery and honestly after two years I kind of like this newer set up vs running around the parking lot of a local shopping plaza. This year there was a day before pick up and so instead of arriving at 5:50 AM I got to sleep in a little and didn’t arrive until 6:21… I sat in the car for about 10 mins before walking over to the start area. My OOTD for this run was my Red Blogalaties Skort, Blue Sewn Shirt originally made for my Belle costume and my Powerful Hermana Crowned accessories as well as the Red gloves worn for my Scarlet Witch costume The weather that morning was 75 feels like 78 at the start.
