My Magical Miles

  Happy Run-iversery.... I can't believe it's officially my fourth Gasparilla Distance Classic man how time flies. This Year I signed up for the actual 5K run for the first time (in 2015 it was my first EVER 5K so I didn't know what to expect and in 2016/2017 I did the walk just for the later start but wound up arriving on the earlier side and waiting around allot anyway) Enough rambling however.... So Friday Night was the expo and despite a change of who my transport was it was another smooth trip where I picked up our bibs and shirts as well as a few other goodies. As we walked by the Tampa Bay Times booth I commented about how I loved their signs and they told me to take as many photos and they had mini versions to take and so I snagged a few of my favorites... On the way out I went over to the wall where the banner has printed all the runners names and it was a blast trying to find ours!!!!   So while I never did find a race in January to do a run a month like I originally planned I finally did my first one of 2018 and it was interesting. So at first I was worried as it was a 'trail run' and I didn't want this to be like the color runs where I spent more time worried about tripping over branches then anything else... thankfully things were paved. The check in area/race start had the worst energy level of any race... there were two tables one for pre regestered runners and one for day of sign ups and eventually the school mascot came out About five minutes before the race we were lead over to the start of the trail.... This was probably one of if not the smallest field of runners/walkers I've raced with as since this was a school fundraiser most participants were the Elementary School students, faculty, and parents though I didn't feel like an odd duck so that was good.
