Running For the Booty: Gasparilla 2018
This Year I signed up for the actual 5K run for the first time (in 2015 it was my first EVER 5K so I didn't know what to expect and in 2016/2017 I did the walk just for the later start but wound up arriving on the earlier side and waiting around allot anyway)
Enough rambling however....

So Friday Night was the expo and despite a change of who my transport was it was another smooth trip where I picked up our bibs and shirts as well as a few other goodies. As we walked by the Tampa Bay Times booth I commented about how I loved their signs and they told me to take as many photos and they had mini versions to take and so I snagged a few of my favorites...

On the way out I went over to the wall where the banner has printed all the runners names and it was a blast trying to find ours!!!!

Saturday Morning was the race and I was pretty glad we had opted to do the run at this point as it's been unseasonably warm and that extra 20 mins between the final run wave and the walkers wave would mean all the difference in the world. We made it to the parking garage and managed to get a sweet spot easy enough and smoothly made our way toward the starting area. The wave before us was being lead down toward the shoot however it was about 930 ish and our wave didn't start until 955 plenty of time to walk to the convention center to use a proper toilet instead of a port o potty and worst case sinario well we'd just bump back and start at 1015 with the walkers after all...no harm no foul....
We made it back to the staging area as they were giving out a two minute warning before our wave started and while we were near the back of the pack it didn't matter....
I ran this race with my sister and we managed to make it to mile one together before she knew that I wanted to try to PR despite the humidity and so she told me to go ahead and we planned a meet up location since she was sans phone. I was doing okay until about 3/4 of a mile later when my phone rang and it threw my concentration off and between that and the heat while I kept a sub 15 minute mile the whole way through I still fell short of a PR by one minute eight seconds....
(Final Time Officially was 46:07 with a 14:50 m/m UNOFFICIALLY my best mile was 13:45 )
