Promise of a PR!

So another week another 5K and this time it was the 4th annual Promise Run!

Packet pick up for this race is not too glamorous and upon arriving I was thrilled that the shirts were a lighter color (white) and not made of the mesh material last years was that doesn't do well with Florida's humidity...downside was that A) the sizes this year ran super big and it was much too loose for me to comfortably run in and B) my white sport bra was in the wash so even if it fit I'd be relegated to an alternative look... I was all set to reprise my Rapunzel outfit from Wine and Dine just for fun but as it was much more chilly then last weekend I opted for longer compression leggings instead and coincidentally another Disney themed look....

This year the start/finish had moved slightly to almost the same locations as Mayfair however the overall course was altered slightly from that run....

When I arrived at the start area there was a line of about 20 or so port-o-lets however I knew from Mayfair that there was a proper bathroom and went to check if it was open...I wasn't the only runner that did so and I was fortunate for having a 20min wait for race start.

At the staging area they had signs that said 7-8-9 minute miles then walkers I stood between 9 m/m and walkers but closer to the 9 m/m sign

I was off to a slow but steady start and felt that I was doing well however at about the mile and a half mark I got ambitious and decided to speed up on the brick road which tripped me up last year allot... I felt a pinch in my right leg but just slowed down and pressed on until I got to the pavement.

When I turned off my tracker at the finish I unofficially clocked in at a 44:44 finishing time which would be 15 second PR from Bulldog and a 19 second PR from my best timed race.... it took a few hours to get an official time and when I did it was 44:13 which meant I actually had a 46 second PR from Bulldog and a 50 second PR from my best timed race.....

Not to mention... not that I look at stats in every race but I got 23rd out of 60 runners in my age group and 419th out of 876 runners overall YEA ME!
