Summer Sunrise Watermelon Race 2

Time for the second race in the Summer Sunrise Watermelon Series and to see if I have what it takes to beat the heat and my June time.

At I got to the starting area once again about a half hour for the start it was slightly darker and felt less crowded but as time progressed it became on par with June. It was actually COOLER then last month with the temperature being a cool 75 degrees as opposed to 77 though it was still 89% humidity and a heat advisory.

Time Goal Wise I wanted to BEAT THE HEAT AND LAST MONTH'S RACE....which was an official time of 47:25....my pace on FITBIT was a 14:49 m/m and so I kept that in the back of my head as I ran.

My OOTD was my Blue Fila Skort and my 2019 MayFair Tank with another Bondi Band I picked up at Gaspirilla this time my red bandanna one as well as the same old shoes as I've yet to rotate

This go around I didn't have someone I had my eye on to pace back and forth however that didn't bother me a bit.

Once again I hit my stride at the start especially as I knew the first mile the road was wide and you could easily weave back and fourth...

at about 7:07 in the first strollers passed me by and at about .81 miles in I slowed my pace to pull my water bottle out of my skort pocket...unfortunately during that I somehow bumped my phone and paused my fitbit for a brief moment though no more then a minute or so...at about .92 miles was the merge point onto the jogging path and soon I hit mile marker #1 with my FITbit logging in at 13:06 and a split of 13'09 for the mile and overall pace of 13'08 I was definitely under where I was last month (pace 13'74) though in the back of my head I kept in mind my pause especially as my FITbit only logged me at .99 miles

At 1.50 on the nose was the official water spot and at 1.70 I pulled to the shoulder to ajust a loose shoelace

I reached mile marker 2 (with my fitbit now back on track saying 2.06) in 29:01 minutes a split of 14'57 and pace of 14'04 (under once more from last months 14'25 pace at this point)

When the cast recording I was listening to moved into act 2 I was at 2.44 miles and once more I took to the shoulder and slowed my pace to grab my water though this time I didn't bump myself and soon reached mile 3 (fitbit saying I was 3.08) in 44:58 with a 15'21 split and a pace of 14'34 which meant I would probably be seconds within last months time once I crossed the finish line....

I crossed once again in 3.2 miles even with my blip with an UNOFFICIAL time of 46:28 (pace 14'32) and an Official time of 47:12 (pace 15'11) so while I was no where near a PR I shaved 13 seconds off my June time !!!!!!

NEXT UP.....technically my RunDisney Iron Man Virtual Short which I may/may not recap and then onto August's Watermelon
