A LOOOOONG DECEMBER

I feel like it’s been one step forward two steps back this year. It started in the spring…when I got my second Covid 19 vaccination the morning before the Gaspirilla Expo… I had to take my Easter Weekend Training Run Times as my official because I was suffering some minor side-effects but I thought it would all be worth it in the end right? Wrong- than August’s Watermelon run moved bib pick up venues at the last moment and got rid of the post race Watermelon while September’s run had ‘drive up’ bib pick up and October’s run only had bib pick ups the day of the race (though IDK if those were pandemic mitigation or already in the plans) Wine and Dine went better than expected as the crowds and adrenaline made things feel like they were back to normal even if the Character Sightings were at a roped off distance and didn’t take place at the start/finish… I even felt somewhat normal knowing that I would be getting my booster shot in a few weeks…. Now THIS was IT…. THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL just continue to mask up in doors and in large crowds for a few more months and you will be golden… but then the new variant has happened and now all bets are off…

But you didn’t come here for a “Heres What You Missed” Pandemic Edition you came for my running log. Well… I didn’t do any races in December so this months post will be plain and simple
Upcoming Races
WDW Marathon Weekend 10K January 7th – as of now the weekend is still on as planned despite the high case numbers both in Florida and in the US in general…they even did a merchandise preview on social media but a lot can happen in a week after all in March 2020 Disney went from having a Grand Opening Celebration of a new attraction one day to closing the park down for four months eleven days later
Gaspirilla Distance Classic Half Marathon February 27th – no updates on this event other than the registration for their kids racing events just opened up…. I just would like a medal preview to dangle a carrot in front of my legs as my long runs kick up
Springtime Surprise Everest 5K- March 31st (another solo run as my sister got locked out of registration as the event sold out in less than 20 mins!!!!)
Still pondering Promise Run on March 5th to keep my streak up (it’s less than a week after my half but I have a 3 mile recovery run on the books regardless if I pay and get a medal for it or not) will most likely sign up for Mayfair soon-ish and still on the fence if I want to do one of the Rock and Roll Clearwater events based on the close proximity to the Jewish High Holidays
