Still Sweaty for Scholarships... Watermelon Race 2... 2022

It’s July which means things are heating up. It also means it is time for round two of the Summer Sunrise Watermelon Series!!!
With working a more reasonable 26 hour work week and the weather being a cool 79 feels like 85 with no storm threats my goal was to finish somewhere in the ballpark of my 42:46 PR and the 53:00 of June.
My OOTD was a lite pink tank top from Macy’s as well as a blue Livi skort and watermelon bondi band

I was dropped off pretty much around the same time as June (640am) and like June it was a 10 min walk to get to the starting group nine sign.
While I didn’t see my favorite octogenarian in the coral or at all today I did notice a few people with event staff vests walking the corals. At first I thought it was making sure runners were in their assigned or higher groups or even checking security due to some real world events, however they were just taking photos of groups waiting on the start.
I never screenshotted my Chip timed start but based on how my screenshot of when I crossed the finish the first go around had a time stamp of 7:08 and said I had an elapsed run time of 4 mins even we will go with this…(note this was two seconds later than June and in June I paused for a shoe tie before this point!)
I reached mile 1 in a rounded 16 mins which was a minute less than June so I was going fine…
Merge from road to walking path two minutes later (18 mins elapsed)
Normally when I get to this portion of the run I’ll start eyeballing those around me to try to pace myself but honestly I just felt in my own little bubble and used the lyrical genius of Lin Manuel Miranda to fuel my pacing (I still want to someday focus on some proper interval training)
12 mins later was the official water table (30 mins elapsed)
Like last month I was sipping every .60 ish from my personal bottle but took a sip and continued on course keeping stride for stride with last month well that was until I hit marker 2
… okay it wasn’t THAT BAD!!! At 34 mins elapsed instead of being a minute faster than June I was a minute slower but still not two shabby

It took another sweet sixteen minutes until I reached the merge back onto the road (50 mins elapsed) with marker 3 making it 51 minutes
Sprinting the last 10th of a mile I finished a literal SECOND over June I couldn’t of done this if I tried…
