A Short and Sweet Mayfair 2025 Update:

If I had a nickel for everytime I ran a night race and it got cut due to weather issues I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s funny it happened twice… and that the only other night race I ever did was rescheduled due to  hurricane damaged and moved to a later date in which daylight savings wasn’t accounted for but that’s a whole other story…


Anyway, my initial outfit pull was to be my starlake princess crowned and purple livi bottom however with the wet unpredictable weather I opted instead for my Springtime Surprise 10K shirt and black livi bottom





I kept checking for updates and with the 4:30 PM “We are still good to go” email the most recent I headed to the start and arrived around 6:39… as I checked the weather it went from 40-50% thunderstorms to 40-50% rainy conditions so I took it as an okay sign as I lined up in the shoot. (it was 76 feels like 77 with 77% humidity otherwise)


At 6:56 they sang the anthem and stated they weren’t pausing between waves but to not push because timing started when you crossed the start map


In 16 mins my garmin buzzed I hit mile one…. There was no official markings however I did also hear a rumbling of thunder so I looked at the weather app. It said rain was forecast to begin in 11 mins and that at 8pm there was 75% chance thunderstorms… Florida am I right…


About five minutes later I got to the out and back on Success and they were blocking off the road with cones so only the runners exiting the loop could access the street. It was a long narrow one lane path around the rest of the lake with a mix of the runners exiting the loop and the slower joggers/walkers like myself who skipped the loop mixing in.


About 12 mins from that point I buzzed that I hit mile two just as I was passing the mile three marker (33 mins total) I don’t know if it was lightning or a camera flash I saw but I definitely picked up the pace to sprint to the finish.


I “FINISHED” in 35:09 HOWEVER since I only moved 2.17 miles I decided in order to EARN my medal I’d add the split of my fastest mile on my next outdoor run to make my OFFICIAL time 55:47

  So like with all RunDisney recaps I like to get the Run The Year progress report up first and unfortunately it’s not looking good. It will be nearly impossible to make it to 2024 miles this year…heck I don’t think I’ll even beat last year's mileage of 1896 (but I’m hoping to get close to that, fingers crossed) But it’s okay… I think I will double dip on my 2025 Challenge until I ‘Earn’ my medal and I’ll be content… Anyway as of today I’ve earned 1,486.81 miles and here are my badges to show for it…   And now onto the main event CHEERS TO FIFTEEN YEARS! ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE (Springtime Surprise 2024)

It’s time once again to lace up our running shoes for another RunDisney adventure. And since I’m not doing a challenge and it hasn’t been months since my last race recap I’m not going to front load things with my Run The Year progress and instead will head right to the most Magical Running Series on Earth…. With the VQ situation we had it all planned out. I’d drive toward a location I knew was in the 45 mile range… watch the world clock and …. BANG… however Traffic had other plans and we were gifted with group number 58 the highest number I’ve gotten to date. The initial time quoted to shop was 11:31 and while we did monitor the time as it kept dipping back I didn’t take notes of each and every progress update so moving on. In my Pirate Era (Gasparilla 2024)

Cheers to 10 years of participating in the Gasparilla distance classic (and doing running events in general) Of my 10 years this will be my 5th time running the 15k/8k challenge which is now onto its fourth name since participating… the Michelob Ultra Infusions Challenge  This year we were staying downtown at the official HOST hotel the Embassy Suites instead of the further away by the airport making race weekend activities a breeze. Just look at this picture I took that looks like a vintage postcard    We arrived at the expo just after 3pm again and after grabbing bib, shirts, and my challenge jacket. We wandered around the booths but there were lots of empty tables and the tables that did have giveaways you had to sign up for a mailing list (the one list I did sign up for I’ve already gotten a dozen unnecessary emails as all I want to know about is the running series they advertised) I did end up getting two bondi bands (because girl math 2 for $15 is better then 1 for ...
