Keel Farms & Bonnet Springs 2026
After another RunDisney registration shut out (marathon weekend) and more dental work (a deep cleaning on March 10th & 11th and a filling appointment the day before the second race I’ll be recapping) I’m here to recap the most recent two events I participated in
Keel Farms Spiked Apple 5k
Anyway pick up was the day before at the winery and I got a tee shirt and pre purchased headband
The race had three waves…830, 10, and 1130 with my wave at 830.
At 730 I arrived and walked towards the start area than walked back to the car to get my ID and Debit card before heading back to the start a second time around 752
Weather was 48 feels like 51 so I opted for sleeves in my Champion!Rapunzel top, pink blogatis skirt and golden dreamer hat and starlake queen headband from crowned
At the start area were some critters in the form of goats and chickens
As well as set ups for cornhole, hula hoops and post race goodies
My music choice was the Hamilton soundtrack and I didn’t even make it through act one!!
I crossed the start and made my way through what would be two laps through blueberry fields running on both roads and lots of grass…I wore a pair of my older asics knowing this. It was a fairly scenic course as aside from the fields there were cows as well
There were no formal markers but my garmin buzzed my first mile at 17 mins…the winners were passing me on their second loop at this time
About 10 mins later was a water table as I started my second loop
Another 17 mins (34 elapsed) I buzzed that I hit my second mile
19 mins later I buzzed mile 3 (53 mins elapsed) and crossed the finish line two mins with an official time of 54:44
Post race we got a cider pour (strawberry lime) and an apple donut…
I did also purchase a pineapple cider but didn’t take any pics
History Has Its Eyes On You
Bonnet Springs 5K
Like I mentioned earlier I had a filling appointment in the morning before this race. I was assured I could run but as I got to the bib pick up I could barely even walk straight. I was dizzy, nauseous and for the fourth year in a row had a severe headache the night before.
OOTD Black Livi skort, changed fate tank and accessories
I got to the park just before 6am and since we parked so close to the staging area I decided to sit in the car and vibe until about 642am ish. I took a restroom break than bopped back to the car to resync my earbuds (which were just playing a shuffle list this race) before hanging back at the family lawn a few more moments and than heading to my spot in the shoot. I was ‘coral’ 7 of 10 and the runners club stepped it up this year both with the flag markers on the corals to the motivational signs on course both of which I didn’t take pictures of. The MC was getting on my nerves harping about how he can’t wait to see everyone's PRs …. Sure he was motivational but as someone who no matter how hard they push can’t get back to where they were pre-covid his tone just wasn’t it… not to mention how he kept trying to push the crowd to aggressively chant USA as if it were part of the national anthem.
Weatherwise it was 63 feels like 62
I started the race at 730 though it was a minute delay actually clicking start on my Garmin. Since this race actually had mile markers I will be going with my physical time and not any garmin discrepancies.
Ten minutes in and the leaders were already passing on the other line making their second loop around the park.
Seven minutes after this I passed the mile one marker with a 17 minute split. By now I was having this weird feeling in my throat. IDK if it was due to residue from the day before fillings or if it was the moderate air quality but I kept pressing on.
Ten minutes later I crossed the Halfway Mat and another two minutes we reached the water spot.
Seven minutes late I passed mile marker 2 with a 19 minute split
Another 18 minutes got me to mile three and I finished with a time of 54:33 which is two minutes over what I did at promise run twelve minutes over my 2019 PR but at least consistent with the weekend before
WE GOT A UNICORN POLO STADIUM!
