OOPS.... I did it again: September 1st training report

So, in my last recap I apologized for not doing a formal Promise Run recap and then touched upon the Color Run (I still hold to the fact that I’d love to do another one of those…. or an inflatable one for that matter) and Castaway Cay….and hinted that March of Dimes and Mayfair were on the horizon….

Well… those two events came and went and while keeping to the shoulder of the sidewalk gave me a quicker speed then 2015’s 21:32 m/m I was still a bit bummed that at a 16:19 m/m I was still above my average pace

Next up was Mayfair which was a cautionary tale that I really need to practice being outside in all the elements as it was raining earlier in the day and literally as I was waiting at the start line it drizzled for 2 minutes right before the foghorn blew and so the ground was slick…. OFFICIAL TIME 46:17 which is a minute and fourteen seconds above last year’s time aKa my PR for a 5K

In addition to this I did yet another Solo Race the Red White and Brew 5K over July 4th This race while I liked running a different course (this Race was in the parking area and surrounding roadway of an outdoor shopping complex) and the amazing medal had some dramatic moments. For starters…. I was getting my phone set to keep my personal pace when I noticed I didn’t have my fitbit on my wrist… thankfully I had another app on my phone to keep me sane…. THEN this is July in Florida where even at 7AM the weather feels like it’s in the mid-high 80s yet the only water stations were a table cups and a serve yourself water cooler at the start/finish line and a water table at about 1.90 of a 3.10-mile race…. I almost pulled to the shoulder at around 1.50 to dry heave and I ended up shot gunning 2 Racetrack Soda Palooza cups of vitamin water on the way home…. Official time for this was 47:15

After this I’ve really done nothing but my Wine and Dine training however due to said FL Heat and my work schedule I have only done TWO outside runs (both over a 16 m/m average) and the rest on the treadmill with a 14 m/m average. I REALLY wanted to do more outdoor training as 1) I really want to use the gym boss I invested in to acclimate myself to a run/walk/run style (I kind of do something similar on the treadmill where I change my pace and/or incline every 10th or Quarter Mile) 2) I want to practice more in the rain because if it’s wet but not lightning the races at Disney will still be run and I want to run them.

Speaking of Run Disney…. In addition to Wine and Dine (which I’ve already narrowed myself down to 3 costumes… final choice will be made based off what tech fabric Jo Annes has to make a skirt) I’m doing Star Wars Darkside 5K with a friend as well as the 10K ‘solo’
Also, ahead in the pipeline I’ve decided to just stick with the 5K for Gaspirilla despite the 8K being more comparable to the 4.25 run that would be in my Dark Side Training Plan for that week considering I’ll be doing Promise Run again the following week….

I’ll most likely register for both those races soon ish considering Gaspirilla price goes up 9/30 and the early registration period for Promise Run is till 11/1
Hopefully I can manage to pop on by with a training report before Wine and Dine but…you know me
