Red White and Brew

So 5K #21 was the third annual RED WHITE and BREW race...last year I did this event and it was...an adventure...first I forgot my fitbit at home (thank god for Stravia) and second... a race in July in Florida with only one water stop is just...(I passed on taking water from the station pre-race and by the time post race rolled around and no water was to be found lets just say I was grateful that Racetrack had their SodaPalooza promotion going as I shotgunned TWO fountain trips worth of vitamin water but I digress...here is This Years recap...

I was relieved when I arrived at packet pick up at first glance that they gave out safety pins and not the clips like Mayfair gave to runners...I also loved the cute bibs compared to the generic FitNiche ones given last year (though I did see some runners with those and wonder if those were given to last minute sign ups or if they ran out of the event ones later in the day and I was lucky)...shirts however...I swear this year I've been having a bad streak with them as this years shirt was more of a t-shirt material instead of the moisture wicking I'm used to and so I wore it during the day and paired my Mayfair 2017 tank with my red sparkle skirt as mo OOTD....

Learning from last years mistakes I drank a powerade in the car on the way to the start and double checked I had my fitbit on my wrist multiple times before leaving home

I started off strong hitting mile 1 in about 13 1/2 minutes however about a third of a mile later I was kind of wishing I had water earlier instead of a sports drink or I lugged a bottle with me to hydrate on the road (water stop was at 1.93 and they were practically shoving cups to runners causing half the water to of splashed out and let me say it was the hottest water I've ever been given on course to boot)

By mile mark 2 I was pleased my pace only rose a minute despite my slowness however about a quarter of a mile later I saw the end of the line on the opposite side of the road as I continued to press on....

Finishing the Race I didn't feel sick to my stomach like I did last year so I don't know if the humidity was less severe or I prepped myself better...

I knew I wouldn't PR and was 3 minutes give or take over however I was six seconds better then last years run so I call it a check in the pro column...

a check in the con column would be the medals I could of sworn the event page said it was a new design this year but it was identical to last years and like last years not even dated which kind of sucked....

I still had fun and depending where I am in 2019 would totally do this again....

Next Week starts Wine and Dine's training plan
