A Wonderful World of Color|| A Color Run Race Recap:
Well, when I saw that 2019’s event was in September of this year I couldn’t help but jump on it by calling my sister saying that I wanted to do it with her as an early Birthday Celebration we ended up signing up.

Since the race was in Kissimmee, we opted instead of wasting money on gas or paying a premium to get out event packets shipped to our door that we’d pay a $5 service fee for day of pick up. It took about 22 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the check in area, check in, walk back to our car to put our packet in the backseat/pin our bibs, and walk back to the pre-race area where there were some fun Instagram able moments where we took a few before shots…
Note, my OOTD was my 2018 Promise Run Shirt, Navy and Red Fila Capris, Purple Five Below Headband and for my last run my Grey Fresh Foams as starting with Brick Dash in October (and hopefully a training run or two before it) I’ll be wearing my Pink Fresh Foams and moving my Grey ones to treadmill duty

Notice how clean we are well that would soon change as at about 845 we got lead into the shoot and soon after that the national anthem went off and waves began promptly at 9. We were lucky to just make the cut off for wave one not that this was a timed event or anything, but it led to less of a bottleneck out of the gate then I remembered in 2017 which is nice.
I didn’t take a mileage timestamp at the color shoots but I did take photos so I have a clock timestamp and so ten minutes into the run we hit our fist color tunnel and were greeted with a wave of blue color powder (oh did I mention before that it was a bit windy which was nice for cooling the air not so nice for keeping the power out of my eyes even with glasses and sunglasses layered to protect them…)

Another ten minutes down another color tunnel as now it was purples turn….
About six minutes after this we hit the halfway water stop mark which it was a big deal that the race kept hyping up on their eblasts that they were doing water refill stations instead of plastic bottles so BYOB post-race. The truth was they still had cups of water on course and at the pre/post-race area however the water (as well as bottle refills) came from some kind of trailer and it clearly wasn’t filtered thankfully we weren’t pushing ourselves running and it wasn’t as hot as my past few races (the fact that I had a frozen bottle of spring water in the car didn’t hurt either)
About nine minutes after the water (or fifteen after purple) we reached the ‘Tie Dye’ Tunnel which was pink and yellow powders
Six more minutes passed, and we were at the RUMHAVEN Sponsored Tunnel which gave us Green and Teal and if Green is your favorite color well it’s your lucky day as nine more minutes was the final color tunnel sponsored by Cricket Wireless also in glowing green.
It was three more minutes for us to cross the finish shoot with my fitbit logging us 3.17 miles with a 50:59 time overall and a 16’05 pace (best mile 15’11)

Now this race going in I never intended to run it for pace considering it wasn’t a timed run and I just wanted to take it all in (I told my sister in all seriousness that I just wanted to keep it a sub 20 minute mile for my sanity) which I did

Like how we look?
So, after finishing the race we are handed our medals and a bag of color powder as over by the DJ Stage they do color throws periodically post-race. We decided that we really only needed to do one of those throws before giving a final look around.
Post-race snacks lacked from last time where they were giving out sparkling water and lays poppables as they just had cups of tap water and apples…. seriously who wants to eat an apple when you’re sweaty and covered in color powder….

Post-race we decided to change into our free race t-shirts (I also changed from my capri’s into my shorts that were in my overnight bag in the car) scrub up our faces, arms and legs and head to Disney Springs for some post-race Blaze Pizza which was a perfect cap to the day (though there were a couple items in DStyle I’ll have to go back when I’m able to and try on but that’s not a story for this blog)

Next Race as mentioned above is Legoland Brick Dash in October where I’m hopefully going to revive my Rapunzel look from Wine and Dine 2017 & Castaway Cay 2018 since it’s a Halloween Themed run
Until then….
