Baby You're a Firework (July):

And now off to the races….
First up Red White & Brew
I did this in 2017 and loved it than in 2018 when the shirt was a downgrade and the medal was exactly the same (both years weren’t dated) I took a pass in 2019 and well we all know what happened in 2020

I pondered making a new sparkly blue skirt but ultimately settled on my Roger Rabbit costume skirt with matching headband, event shirt and a few strings of party beads to get in the festive spirit
The race started at 7:04 (you know cause July 4th) and I got there with plenty of time to lean against the hood of the car to pin up and head to the courtesy coral area in front of the running store which also served as finish. {I was walking across the lot at 655}
It was 73 degrees and foggy didn’t screenshot the feels like or humidity but it definitely felt cooler than watermelon without the direct sun becoming blinding after the first mile so….
I reached mile 1 in 14:16 with a pace of 14’00 a bit slower than Watermelon but the lot has many twists and turns instead of a tight lake loop plus the ground was slick and puddly from the night before's rain
From here it was a long haul though I’d rather be running through an underpass instead up and over an overpass
At 1.84 miles was a table with small bottles of water….since I couldn’t hold two bottles and my phone I slowed my pace as I went a few more steps to make the turn around and shotgunned the smaller bottle and got a bit of a head rush from drinking too fast but pressed on
Soon I reached mile 2 in 30:19 14’43 pace
I went about .10 more miles before the pace car passed from the opposite side of the road behind me
I reached mile 3 at 46:13 15’01 pace
I crossed with a time of 47:23 which was one second higher than my June Watermelon time
Via fitbit my pace was 14’54 officially it was 15’14 (fit bit was a second higher than watermelon official the same)

July Watermelon:

While there were some changes like some side-streets surrounding the course being made one way to pre/post race through traffic and a fifteen second delay between corals to ease bottlenecks the general vibe of getting to the start was the same.
I was dropped off this time at 637 and it was roughly a 10 minute walk to reach my spot (I was already bibbed up and good to go too)
My Ootd was my black Livi leggings with attached tulle skirt, my mayfair 2020 tank (yea yea navy on black I know) and my blue polka dotted bondi band
No weather check this time but definitely felt cool-er than June or at least less humid… I also didn’t log when I took nips from my personal water bottle though I nursed about ¾ of it if not more by the time I finished
Since it is the same course as June and will be the same in Aug obviously me passing the “finish” reaching “merge points” and getting extra water will be at the same mileage points across the board
Mile 1 was reached in 14:03 again with an average pace of 13’45 (one second over June!!) for some reason I didn’t think I’d been doing good especially earlier on course due to allergy related sinus issues and my pre run banana not sitting well with me
Mile 2 I reached in 29:47 with a 14’34 pace (10 seconds less than June with a 3 second shorter m/m average)
I DID this time take a note at my mileage on course as I passed where my coral was staged (2.78 miles)
Mile marker 3 was placed at the merge point (2.98) so my time was definitely faster than June’s at this point with it being 44:27 14’53 pace
My official time was 47:07 (new summer race PR but still 5 mins over my actual 5K PR set in April 2019)
Pace via fitbit was 14’48 with an official of 15’08
